I suppose the best way to describe this sim is to call it a true study sim, any sim that has you flying multiple aircraft would be called a survey sim, this means that while it might be somewhat realistic, it is still covering a range of aircraft and thus becomes a "jack of all trades and a master of none", this sim is about one aircraft and it makes sure it gets it right.

You asked "is it worth the money?" Yes, it is very much worth it as you will not find a more accurate combat flight simulator anywhere else, this is a sim that really requires that you not only read the manual but also that you take some time to learn about the CAS (combat air support role) and all that it entails, this is not a aircraft that you will be shooting down other planes with, you are low and slow most of the time and your number one target is enemy ground vehicles.
